Michelle + Alex | Washington, DC In-Home Engagement Photographer

I am beyond excited to share Michelle and Alex’s engagement with you, because I just love these two so much.  Michelle and Alex are two of my most hip, stylish, cool, and fun friends. When they reached out about an engagement session, I am pretty sure I screamed.

They wanted to do something meaningful and unique to their relationship, so we planned a multi-part engagement photo session to capture the essence of their relationship.

We started off with an in-home lifestyle engagement photo shoot with their four adorable cats. I like to help couples feel “at home” so we often start with an activity to help everyone get comfortable. I had Michelle and Alex make each other a drink, turn on some music, and asked them questions about their love story!

We then took things outside and played in the alley before hopping on their motorcycle to head out to Edwards’ Ferry. You read that correctly. Their MOTORCYCLE. I told you they were cool! On our way out to Edwards’ Ferry things started to look gloomy, like the sky was about to dump a bunch of water on us. I asked them to pull over and shoot on a random roadway and then the sky opened up. They were such great sports about it!

I love how these shots feel like stills from a movie. The rain, the moto, their home all felt so cinematic - like snippets from their indie film love story.

Luis + Isha | Surprise Engagement Party | Lost Creek Winery, Virginia

Isha + Luis are engaged! YAY!

A few weeks ago, Luis contacted me about a surprise party he was planning for his girlfriend, Isha. I think you could say I was pretty pumped because 1. Isha and I have been following each other on Instagram for, well, years and have never met in person and 2. I’ve therefore been following Luis and Isha’s relationship from afar and couldn’t be more excited!

Luis worked out all the details, even contacting Isha’s job to make sure she would have the day off. He successfully planned a surprise proposal and engagement party at The Vineyards & Winery at Lost Creek in Leesburg, Virginia for Isha, with 26 of their closest family and friends, from all over the country (and beyond!)

Their joy was absolutely contagious. It was so obvious how in love these two were, and we loved every minute. Congrats, you two!

Laura + Eric | Surreybrook Gardens, Frederick, Maryland Engagement

Laura and Eric work together at an outdoor adventure company (and love cats), so I knew right away that we were going to get along. They chose to have their engagement session at Surreybrooke Gardens, one of their favorite places near their home in Frederick, Maryland.

We met at a cute coffee shop in downtown Frederick to get to know each other a bit before driving to the Gardens for our session. Laura is so genuine and kind, and Eric is an amazing storyteller. They have been together for nearly a decade, and their chemistry, passion, and silliness made them such a blast to work with. I felt like we were instant friends, and it was such an honor to third wheel on this date with them.

It’s hard to believe I could be any more excited about photographing their Shenandoah wedding this fall, but during our session, they told me that they plan to hike the Appalachian Trail in the days leading up to their ceremony. Swapping out the hectic feeling of the last days leading up to the wedding by backpacking to their gorgeous venue on Skyline Drive feels so perfect for this adventurous duo. I can’t wait to meet them there at the end of their hike, and the beginning of their marriage!
